Join Allegheny Land Trust educators as we explore the macroinvertebrate life found in a our rivers and streams. Find out how these tiny creatures act as indicators of water quality while you practice being a watershed biologist.  Learn about other careers you can have on and around our rivers as well!  These activities are funded by RiverWorks Discovery, the Port of Pittsburgh Commission and EQT Foundation. Try to win a free $100 gift certificate and try your hand at a water word search.

EQT Regatta AAA Beach

AAA Travel to the Beach Kids Korner

Monongahela Riverwalk, Point State Park

AAA will once again be putting the beach within reach at the AAA Travel to the Beach Kids Korner! The temporary seashore will be located along the Monongahela River side of the Point State Park river walk, and features beach toys. This beachfront oasis is the perfect place for kids to build sandcastles, while parents chill out and take a leisurely beach break.

Face Paint & Airbrush Tattoos

Be transformed into a Mermaid or Pirate by Face Paint Pittsburgh’s team of Pro Artists. Under the sea themes and all things nautical will be featured along with our most popular designs. Add in an old school Sailor’s (airbrushed) tattoo and you will find something for everyone!

Caricature Drawings

Renown Pittsburgh caricature artist draws your caricature with an excellent likeness in just 3 minutes! A great personal and fun memory to take home of the event.

Lost Creek Mining

Kids Zone, Point State Park – $

Test your skills at panning for real gemstones in our mining sluice and take your treasures home! The Mining sluice channels a continuous stream of water through a wooden trough as the gem pans are submerged into the water. The remains are real rough gems that they get to keep. Each miner also receives a cage necklace that they can place their favorite gem in which is included. A great way to experience what life was like in the early days of Lost Creek Mine.

Pop Up Story Time with the ALCOSAN’s Frankie The Fish

Kids Zone, Point State ParkAugust 4-5 at 3pm

Join ALCOSAN’s Frankie the Fish for story time during the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta. Frankie and his helper will be reading his three favorite books – “A River,” because that’s where fish live; “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,” because of all the fish, of course; and “Everyone Poops,” because Frankie lives at the wastewater treatment plant, where the poop goes.
