Geocaching: Geocaching is a fun outdoor treasure hunt hike using a handheld GPS (Global Positioning System). Venture Outdoors will teach you the basics of using a GPS and then send you out in small groups to find a variety of hidden facts located throughout the park.

Crafts & Games with the Children's Museum

Make Your Own Wave Bottle: Turn an ordinary water bottle into the Ohio, Monongahela or the Allegheny River. By adding oil and water together in a bottle, kids are able to take a little bit of the river home with them!

Noodle Boat Races: Build your own boat to race! Using a summer favorite, pool noodles, design your nautical vessel. Create wind with different materials to get your boat to the finish line!

Allegheny Land Trust

Visit the Allegheny Land Trust tent to try your hand at some “minute to win it” style water challenges, explore careers you could have on the rivers and learn more about how ALT helps local people save local land.  Supported by RiverWorks Discovery and the Port of Pittsburgh Commission.

Be transformed into a Mermaid or Pirate by Face Paint Pittsburgh’s team of Pro Artists. Under the sea themes and all things nautical will be featured along with our most popular designs. Add in an old school Sailor’s (airbrushed) tattoo and you will find something for everyone!

Caricature Drawings

Renown Pittsburgh caricature artist draws your caricature with an excellent likeness in just 3 minutes! A great personal and fun memory to take home of the event.

Lost Creek Mining

Kids Zone, Point State Park - $

Test your skills at panning for real gemstones in our mining sluice and take your treasures home! The Mining sluice channels a continuous stream of water through a wooden trough as the gem pans are submerged into the water. The remains are real rough gems that they get to keep. Each miner also receives a cage necklace that they can place their favorite gem in which is included. A great way to experience what life was like in the early days of Lost Creek Mine.

Free Helmet Fittings provided by Kohl's Hard Helmet Program at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC

Kids Zone, Point State ParkSaturday, August 5Noon - 3pm

Kohl’s Hard Head Helmet Program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC will provide free multi-sport or bike helmets and helmet fittings to kids under the age of 19 beginning at noon on Saturday, August 6th. The helmets come in a variety of sizes and will be distributed until they are depleted on a first come, first serve basis – supplies and sizes are limited. The child must be present to receive a helmet to ensure proper fit.

EQT Regatta AAA Beach

AAA Travel to the Beach Kids Korner

Monongahela Riverwalk, Point State Park

AAA will once again be putting the beach within reach at the AAA Travel to the Beach Kids Korner! The temporary seashore will be located along the Monongahela River side of the Point State Park river walk, and features beach toys. This beachfront oasis is the perfect place for kids to build sandcastles, while parents chill out and take a leisurely beach break.

STEM Activities with the Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA)

Kids Zone, Point State Park

Sink or Float: Make predictions whether an item will sink or float. Test those predictions using a variety of different items and a bowl of water. Children will learning about buoyancy in this fun STEM experiment.

Float My Boat: Build a boat from tinfoil. Make predictions about how many pennies your boat can hold before it sinks. Float your boat in a container of water and add pennies one at a time until the boat sinks. Children will learning about buoyancy in this fun STEM experiment.

Stop by on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. for Fun with Doodlebots! Pop-up storytimes will occur throughout the weekend in the ACLA tent featuring water related stories!
