EQT PTRR Announces Final Details for 41st Anniversary Celebration

Pittsburgh, PA (July 24, 2018) — Today, the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta announced final details for its 41st annual celebration on August 3-5, which will include Formula One powerboat races, national music acts, frisbee dogs, the USA Jet-Ski Freestyle Championships, a brand new Yuengling Beer Garden, Regatta Thunder Fireworks and so much more.

The land, air and water festival, which is the largest inland regatta in the nation and one of the tristate region’s largest summer events, offers three days of free, family entertainment, with something for everyone.

Events on Water

NGK F1 Powerboat Tour Speeds into Pittsburgh August 3-5. The most exciting racing series on water returns to the Regatta to crown this year’s F1 Champion. Catch the adrenaline-pumping races all three days of the Regatta and cheer on your favorites as they navigate one of the most challenging race courses in the country at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour. Trials will be held August 3 and 4. Championship heat will take place on August 5.

USA Jet-Ski Freestyle Championships Soar Above the Water. The world’s top freestyle athletes vie for the title of Three Rivers Regatta Freestyle Champion. Watch daily and evening shows as these daredevils use a variety of freestyle jet-skis and hydro-flight Jet-board devices that allow them to perform spectacular jumps, backflips, corkscrew spins, flips and rolls into the air.

ALCOSAN 3 Rivers Proud Anything That Floats Race Sets Sail August 4. It’s sink or swim at the ALCOSAN 3 Rivers Proud Anything That Floats Race. The beloved Regatta favorite returns to test teams’ nautical know-how as they build homemade boats that, they hope, will stay afloat and sail down the Allegheny. Pittsburgh Paddlesports Championships Debut August 5. The American Cancer Society, Performance Kayak Inc. and the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta team up to bring you the 2018 Pittsburgh Paddlesports Championships! This 6-mile course will take place on the Allegheny River. This event is open to all ages and all experience levels. Whether you want to paddle just for fun or compete, we welcome you to bring your kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards to join in the fun. Events on Land

Cool off with a Refreshing Drink at the Yuengling Beer Garden. Stunt shows and racing have you thirsting for more? Grab a thirst-quenching cold one at the brand new Yuengling Beer Garden. Featuring Yuengling and Barefoot Wine products, the Garden is the perfect stop for a riverside break. And, you won’t miss any of the action. The powerboat races, jet ski competition and fireworks can all be viewed from the Garden.

All Aboard the Sandsational Sand Sculpture. With support from Colcom Foundation, this year’s impressive sand sculpture theme pays tribute to the Pennsylvania Railroad. Made of 150 tons of sand, this detailed, yet fragile, structure, will feature the tracks, rails and trains that have contributed to Pennsylvania’s rich history.

Catch the Frisbee Dog Stunt Shows. Sit. Stay. Leap! Watch some furry friends jump to the sky at the Frisbee Dog Stunt Shows presented by ALCOSAN 3 Rivers Proud. These daily shows are performed by the “K9 Crew Trick Dog Show” and are sure to impress you with their high-flying tricks.

Shop the Regatta Marketplace. Browse all the goods for sale at the Regatta Marketplace, open all three days at a new location at Liberty Avenue between Stanwix Street & Commonwealth Place.

In addition, the Kids Zone, sponsored by the Colcom Foundation, will be open each day for families looking to take a break from all the action.

 

Events in The Air

The Red Bull Air Force Sky Dive Team Descend on Pittsburgh. The team. The adrenaline. The insanity. These aerial athletes are one of the most elite skydiving teams on the planet! Catch their amazing stunts on August 4 and 5. Keep an eye out for the team’s amazing landing, which is sure to create a splash!  

“Regatta Thunder” Fireworks Light Up the Pittsburgh Skyline August 4. Every Pittsburgh celebration deserves fireworks. Be prepared to be dazzled by a spectacular fireworks display produced by StarFire Corporation. If you were blown away by the EQT Flashes of Freedom fireworks on July 4, you won’t want to miss this!

 

Live Music on The Bank of America Main Stage

Sugar Ray: American rock band Sugar Ray will “Fly” into Point State Park on Friday, August 3. The band first rocked their way to the radio in the 90s with popular singles like, Fans can look forward to jamming to some of the bands biggest 90s hits including “Every Morning,” “Someday” and “When It’s Over.”

The Commonheart: With gritty vocals over rock riffs and horns, The Commonheart brings its emotion-packed, soulful sound to the Bank of America Main Stage on Saturday, August 4. Fans can expect to hear songs from the group’s new album “Grown,” which interlaces heavy blues, soul and gospel influences across trumpet, saxophone, keys, guitar and singers.

Randy Houser: Country music singer and songwriter Randy Houser will rock out to wrap up the weekend on Sunday, August 5. Fans can expect to hear all of Houser’s hits including, “How Country Feels,” “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” and “Goodnight Kiss.”
